In some installations Rudolf Stingel covered walls or floors with silver metallic Celotex panels, an insulation material, and invited visitors to leave marks. First, at 2003 Venice Biennale, inside the Italian pavilion, 2007 at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago and at the Whitney Museum of American Art. Rudolf Stingel made a slection of resulted panels in different dimensions to be casted in copper and plated gold.
Over a period of time (2009 - 2011) we adapted and developed a procedure (electro forming) to copy the panels as precise as it gets. Thanks to this procedure the character of the panels, located between reliefs and paintings, with all the details of marks of the audience, can be kept. After the production in copper, the panels are plated with nickel and 24k gold.
